I Refuse to Let Anxiety Live My Life
I woke up to a new day.
Today I’m seeing both my doctor and my chiropractor.
I have to admit, I’m a little nervous about how this evening will turn out.
But I’m also hoping to grab a coffee with my daughter, and later I’m going to the movies with a friend.
I don’t really know what the “right” thing to do is when you’re dealing with this constant anxiety.
But I do know one thing:
I refuse to let it take my life away from me.
I don’t believe isolation will help me.
If anything, I think it gives anxiety more room to grow.
So I’m choosing to keep living.
Even if I’m scared.
I know I need help.
And I’m determined to get it.
Because living every evening with nausea…
The feeling that I can’t breathe…
The dizziness…
The constant unease…
My life is simply too short for that.
I want to feel well.
I want to live.
I want to experience joy every single day.
And I’m not going to let anxiety steal my spark.
At the same time, I believe there can be something valuable, even in the hardest experiences.
Sometimes we need to remember how difficult life can be.
Not because suffering is beautiful…
But because it teaches us understanding.
It gives us compassion.
It allows us to become better human beings for the people around us.
Even though things are difficult right now, I still feel grateful.
Grateful that I can get help.
And grateful that I now understand—through my own body—what anxiety can actually feel like.
It also makes me think about all the people who live with this every single day.
The ones who wake up with anxiety.
Go to work with anxiety.
Go to bed with anxiety.
To all of you…
I truly feel for you.
And I hope you know you’re not alone.
We have to remember that we’re only human.
There is no shame in asking for help.
In fact, it may be one of the bravest things we ever do.
No one should have to carry mental illness or emotional pain alone.
The road becomes so much easier when someone walks beside you.
A doctor.
A psychologist.
A psychiatric nurse.
A good friend.
Your family.
Whoever that person may be.
We are social beings.
We were never meant to carry everything alone.
We were made to stand together.
Together in the light.
And together in the darkness. ❤️
